Our stay at Xitsunga was incredible - a 5-star experience from start to finish. The hilltop views of the bush stretching out as far as the eye can see are amazing.

 

Our room was spacious, luxurious, and spotlessly clean, and the outdoor shower was wonderful…surrounded by nature but still completely private and comfortable. The private waterhole attracts a lot of birds and animals, and there was always something to see!


Management and staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive, always going out of their way to make us feel welcome. The boma braai under a starry sky was a truly African experience! Xitsunga exceeded all our expectations, and we can’t wait to return!

Staying at Xitsunga is an unforgettable experience where bush meets luxury and comfort.  The room we stayed in is well thought out and elegant, yet still reminds you that you are in the bush.  The owners are passionate about the  style of the lodge and taking care of your every need.  Sitting on the deck watching elephants graze and drink from the watering hole to out door showers and your favourrite drink around the fireplace at night.


What a wonderful way to spend a long weekend watching wildlife at its best.  The lodge is a home away from home, from breakfast to dinner you are treated to a wonderful menu with delicious offerings.  Thank you Anita and Tony for the wonderful experience and amazing hospitality.

From Mbombela, Mpumalanga

  • Approximate travel time: 2.5 – 3 hours

  • Follow the R40 toward Hoedspruit

  • Continue toward Phalaborwa

  • Access the reserve via the Grietjie gate entrance

From OR Tambo International Airport, JHB

​​

  • Approximate travel time: 5.5 – 6 hours

  • Take the N12/N4 highway toward Mbombela

  • Continue on the R40 toward Hoedspruit and Phalaborwa

  • Enter Grietjie Private Nature Reserve from the R40

  • Detailed gate directions will be provided upon booking confirmation

From Polokwane, Limpopo

​

  • Approximate travel time: 3.5 – 4 hours

  • Travel east on the R71 toward Tzaneen

  • Continue toward Phalaborwa

  • Join the R40 and proceed to Grietjie Private Nature Reserve
